KS Ranjitsinhji Silver Plate Tea Service

KS Ranjitsinhji Silver Plate Tea Service

This tea service was given as a Christmas gift by 'Ranji' to William Murdoch's wife, Jemina, in 1896 when he stayed at the Murdoch family home for the festive season.

Murdoch, who played Test cricket for both Australia and England, captained Sussex from 1893 to 1899. 'Ranji' joined Sussex in order to play in a team captained by Murdoch.

Purchased by the Museum Trust at auction in October 2017.
